Here are some excellent resources for you to research when you are trying to find information about Dynamic DNS:

• Technopagan.org has an excellent overview of the DNS system and a huge list of links to just about every dynamic dns provider on the planet.  Most of the providers on that list are hobbyists, but Dave takes pride in listing every single possible provider that you could possibly use.  Of course, we recommend ChangeIP.com, but the list is there for you to compare us to at least.

You need Dynamic DNS even if you have a static IP address.  Every time you change your DNS records there is a number that is also handed out with each query.  This number is a time-to-live value.  Anyone who looks up your domain will also cache your records for this time-to-live value.  If your current DNS provider sets the TTL to a few hours, or even days, what happens when your in a hurry?  Well, let's just say it'll feel like your sitting in a traffic jam and your trying to get somewhere in a hurry.  Don't let yourself get caught in this situation, switch to Dynamic DNS before it's too late.
